From the Ego’s Anti-will to Divine Will
In this article, I am going to write about the ego’s anti-will, focusing specifically on how we can overcome the ego’s mindset in order to connect with the divine will of our I Am Presence and our ‘conscious you‘.
Psychology of the Anti-will of the Ego
I have already addressed the topic of will and anti-will in previous posts, but in this article I intend to provide a clearer explanation of the psychological aspects of the ego’s anti-will.
After entering duality, we know that the conscious self allowed itself to be captured by the consciousness of duality and ‘withdrew’ from the decision-making process. As a result of identifying with the consciousness of duality, the outer self took full control of the mind.
You can read about this process in a previous post . For most people on Earth who identify with their ego, it is easy to feel how difficult it is to achieve their greatest desires on the material plane when they struggle to do so.
Many people follow the precepts and rules of a given religion in the hope that it will give them a ‘better life’, whatever that may mean to them. They often become frustrated and angry with God, asking themselves, “Why doesn’t God make life easier for us and makes us to struggle and to fight so hard for what we want?”
When facing difficulties or having their desires denied, people often feel that their will and God’s will are opposed because ‘God does not allow them to achieve what they desire in this world’. Believers may feel entitled to have their prayers answered and become angry when they feel that God is not listening.
These feelings can only be overcome when our spiritual identity, or the ‘conscious you‘ ceases to identify with the ego’s will. Until this happens, the conflict between the divine will and the personal will cannot be resolved.
Divine Will is our Will
Most people on Earth identify with their ego’s will and believe that their will is separate from the divine will. They choose to disconnect from religion and the belief in God because they feel that God has abandoned them.
However, those who follow a spiritual path and are willing to examine themselves and transcend their identification with the ego begin to reconnect with their spiritual identity — the ‘conscious you’ — and gradually realise that their identity extends far beyond their physical self.
Gradually, they realise that there is no conflict between their will and God’s will because God’s will is their will.
In previous articles, I wrote about the symbolic rebellion recorded in Genesis, which many interpret as a rebellion against the will of God.
It was, in fact, a rebellion against the divine will. The illusion of this rebellion was that those who ‘rebelled’ and chose the path of separation believed that they would only be free in separation. They fell into the illusion that God forced a life of suffering on humanity.
However, this suffering was the result of the choice of the ego’s will to be separate, not a punishment from God.
When we look at our present situation on Earth through the eyes of our conscious you’, our spiritual identity, we can see that our misery is our own doing and not God’s punishment. It is the ego, the illusory identity, that projects the illusion onto God that He is the cause because we did not obey Him.
We need a higher vision, and for this to happen, the ‘conscious you’ must disidentify from the ego. The exterior self, or ego’s will, can never harmonise with the will of God because it sees itself as opposed to God.
When we rediscover our spiritual nature and reconnect with our spiritual spark — the ‘I am’ presence — we begin to overcome the illusions of the ego.
This process of inner transformation will allow us to develop a new sense of identity. It is in the identity body that is focused the power of will, and where we can realize that our will is God’s will. We need an act of will, to change our sense of identity.
In Mother Mary’s words: I have said that your identity body is the seat of your sense of identity, but it is also the body which focuses the power of will, the power of determination, the power of direction, the power of purpose»[1].
When we rediscover our spiritual identity and leave behind many of the dualistic beliefs of the ego, we begin to become one with the conscious you that represents the one mind of Christ within us.
In the one mind there is no division nor the perception that God’s will is in opposition to our will. And although we always have a part of the outer self in our mind until we leave this world, that self no longer has the power over us that it once had.
This does not mean that we stop having desires related to the material world; rather, we recognize their illusory nature and can simply put them in the background.
It also does not mean that we will have to live like hermits and without material comforts, because spiritual development implies that, instead of having subtle material bodies filled with impure earthly energies, we fill our ‘personal sphere’ with the light that comes from our I am presence, but does not mean that we must live in poverty to attain this goal.
However, we also have an added responsibility: by receiving the light, we become co-creators on Earth. We must therefore be aware of the purpose of the act of will that led us to decide to come to Earth.
As I wrote in another article, God did not force us to come to Earth; we did choose to come. It was our spiritual identity — the conscious you — that made that decision.
But why did we come to Earth? It certainly wasn’t to deprive ourselves of earthly comforts and desires. However, our mission goes far beyond the pursuit of material desires and advantages.
Why Did We Come to Earth?
Let’s remember Mother Mary’s words again: « You do not seriously believe that the abundant life is all about money, do you? (…) the true abundant life comes from knowing who you are and why you are here on this planet, from feeling that the light of God is streaming through your four lower bodies. It comes from knowing that every aspect of your lower being is in alignment with your original purpose for coming here».[2]
We came to earth to express ourselves as co-creators with God and to grow in awareness in this process. We came here to bring the light of God to fill the darkness of the planet.
We came here because there is an anti-will here on planet earth, expressed in the collective consciousness, in the ego’s will of many of the inhabitants of earth and in all the dark forces that hide in the material levels of earth.
When we are connected to our spiritual identity, we are the manifestation of God’s Will on earth, we become the living Christ or the living Budha, demonstrating, giving our example, so people can see that there is another way of living, that is possible to overcome the life of suffering created by the dualistic mind.
We will not force any one because the will of God is not based on force, but Love.
We came here because we want to help this planet to raise and enter in a new era of abundance for all, overcoming the era of elitism that brought scarcity and poverty for most. We want to be the body of God on earth, creating a nexus with the spiritual realm to co-create with the Masters of mankind, better conditions for all and for all life.
So, although we may have individual desires while we are on Earth, our connection to the divine will unite us with all life and the planet we live on. Rather than creating ‘treasures on Earth’, we should create ‘treasures in heaven’, as Master Jesus said.
These treasures are our service to life, of which we are a part. This is the greatest desire we can develop while we are here. And to do so, we must overcome the ego’s will, that sees itself as opposed to God’s will.
