Knowing the Seven Rays- 4th Ray- Part 1
In this post I am going to write about the qualities of the 4th ray, part 1.
The 4th ray is a ray of connection: it is in the nexus of the 3 first rays and the following 3 rays of the seven. Like Master Serapis Bey says, in his book[1]:« [the 4th ray] is the interface between spirit and the physical body/material world».
in this way it is a pivotal point on the spiritual path, and implies the need for a decisive and challenging choice. in the words of the Master« will you allow the material world to have power over your spirit?»
The Material world Has no reality in itself
In the initiations of the 4th ray, we must acknowledge that we are more than the physical body and the human identity. In this ray, we must purify our material bodies and accelerate them, to recognize that spirit and matter are not separate realms, but they are connected, because the material world is an extension of spirit.
But, in order to be capable of that, we must first be aware that, what we call «the material world, has no reality in itself, it is made of appearances, when we look at it as a “separate reality». And to attain that awareness, it is needed that we transform our consciousness first.
Many human beings spend a good part of their lives trying to “succeed” in the material world: to achieve a “high position”, social and professional recognition, wealth and “success”. These people only recognize the material world as the “real” world.
We can say that most of their effort is spent trying to “be someone” in the material world, entering in competition with others, who want something similar. And if they see themselves and the material world from this matrix of thought, they cannot truly grow in spiritual terms nor recognize their true identity.
And that’s why the 4th ray is the ray of Purity.
The Purification of the 4th Ray
When human beings don’t recognize the spiritual identity as their real identity, they live in a world of appearances and shadows, as the Greek philosopher Plato so well exemplified in his “Allegory of the Cave”.
Therefore, one of the most important initiations of the 4th ray is precisely to become aware of the illusory nature of all honors, possessions and privileges linked to the material world.
And if this consciousness does not exist, in the recognition that none of the “riches” of the material world fulfills the need for “something more” in life, the struggle to achieve more and more privileges and wealth hides the identity and fundamental goal of incarnating in a physical body:
This goal is to grow in consciousness as a spiritual being, incarnated in the physical body, co-creating one’s reality from the inner source that is the I am Presence.
Recognition of the Material World as an Extension of Spirit
The divine mother for Earth, mother Mary, has been teaching us that there is no separation between the spiritual and the material planes: the latter is an extension of the spiritual plane.
She also tell s us that, as spiritual co-creators, everything we do on the earthly plane is also spiritual and it is our task to spiritualize everything we do on Earth and , in this way, help the planet to elevate to a superior level of reality.
But we can only do this if, firstly, we recognize our true reality. If we continue to see ourselves as material beings aspiring to fulfill purely material desires, we will not be able to elevate the material reality in which we live.
When we recognize our identity as spiritual beings, we also are aware that , in Serapis Bey’s words:[2] «[We will be] aware that the conditions of the material world can be changed. When we are aware of this, we can use our creativity to accelerate the material world beyond its current conditions».
The 4th Ray is the Ray of Acceleration
We will also be aware that nothing in the material world can become permanent. The purpose of incarnation in the material plane is to accelerate this plane until it becomes permanent, not in the physical, but in the spiritual plane.
As Master Serapis Bey says, if we want a better place to live, it is not in the material world that we can find it, to find a «better place to live», we must accelerate ourselves to a higher level of consciousness.
Our I am Presence is our «Starry home» that we long for, even when we are not aware of it, but no one else can take us to our real home, only ourselves can do it, when we accelerate to oneness with our spiritual identity.
However, being in the nexus between the first 3 and last three rays, the 4th Ray, in Master Serapis words, «must be either an acceleration point or a deceleration point». It’s up to us to choose. Master Serapis, adds, «the 4th Ray forms the nexus of the figure -eight flow between the initiations of the first three Rays and those of the last three. It is, so to speak, the eye of the needle».
In a comment to these words, Master Serapis refers to the well-known expression used by Jesus that «it is easier for a camel to enter the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven», being the «rich man» the one who doesn’t want to let go of its material identity and desires to embrace oneness with the I am Presence.
In its general meaning, the 4th ray means the purification of the 4 material bodies of all the impurities that we picked up during the many incarnations we have lived on Earth and on other planets.
Master Serapis is the Ascension master, and he is clear, in his words, that we can only ascend when we have nothing else attached to us, from the material realm, when we are just pure awareness of the I am Presence, the conscious you that descended, and nothing else.
Until we do this, we must apply in accelerating our 4 bodies and also our sense of self: we must recognize that we are not the material identity, we are spiritual beings, one with our I am Presence and one with all life.
The Separate Mind Creates the Perversions of the 4th Ray
What are the basic perversions of the 4th Ray? Well, the first and biggest one is to consider that the conditions existent on Earth are real and that we have no power to change them.
The second perversion of the 4th Ray is the belief that the material realm and the spiritual realm are absolutely separated.
The 3rd perversion is to believe that we are only human beings, a product of the material world and the laws of nature, and there’s nothing in us that transcends the material plane.
This is the belief that we have no hope of becoming spiritual beings. Master Jesus called this state of consciousness, the experience of being «spiritually dead», because we believe that it is not possible to be spiritual beings in a dense planet like Earth.
The first step to prepare ourselves for the initiations of the 4th Ray is the willing to see our own «impurities», instead of trying to hide them from ourselves and the Masters: and those «impurities» are not the same for every human being.
Each human being is unique and has an individual identity (the I am Presence). And, for each of us, to see and let the impurities behind, is to let go of all that is taking us back, instead of taking us forward and upward.
All impure energies that we carry, must be transformed. And this is what the acceleration flame of the 4th Ray can do for us.
Mastery of self is not Control of the Self
We also need to be aware that the self-mastery is not the same as the control of self. This is a common mistake, created by the separate dualistic mind, that doesn’t understand that, to master the self, we can’t perfect the actual self, but must let it die, as I will describe in the next post.
Master Serapis says:« your intention is to master the self, not by controlling the self, but by mastering the self». I will develop this in the next post.
