The Challenges of Communication
In this post I am addressing some challenges of communication with others. I am following the teachings of Master Paul the Venetian[1] and Master Hilarion [2].
I will develop the following topics:
- The idea that truth is universal and, therefore, everyone must see the world the same way I do.
- The idea that we can only communicate if we have the same understanding.
- Our perception of the world depends on our level of consciousness and the filters we have in our 4 material bodies
- The filters people have in their 4 material bodies originate different perceptions of the same reality.
There is no Universal Truth Found on Earth
I’ve written about this before, so I won’t elaborate on it now. Let’s just summarise that the search for absolute truth is the purpose of the ego, because the ego was created to control our interactions with the ‘world’, with what is perceived as ‘something I am not’, with what is different and separate from me.
There are several reasons for the impossibility of finding an ultimate truth on earth. One of the most important ones is that Earth is not a permanent world, it is a changing environment with no ultimate reality.
Earth is a learning environment for created beings to experiment with freedom and experience the principles our Creator used to create. This is important because human beings were created to be co-creators with God. And by understanding the fundamental laws used by the Creator, they can co-create more sustainable structures in the world of form.
Looking at the Earth today, it is not difficult to understand that the way our planet is today cannot be the original work visualised by the Creator. At least if we agree on the qualities we associate with the Creator, such as wisdom, omniscience, kindness, creativity, freedom, etc.
Earth is far from expressing these qualities, because it doesn’t seem possible that a kind God could create a world full of so much suffering for human beings.
So we have to conclude that it was man who, by using his freedom to change his identity, also changed the world and created all the causes of suffering.
Of course, the ego doesn’t see this and continues to try to solve everything by pursuing the impossible quest for a unique scientific theory and universal truth.
We can Communicate by Accepting that There are Many Different Perspectives on the Truth.
So if most people on earth have the ego controlling their mind and trying to impose that truth – using the intellect to ‘prove’ their point – how is it possible to really communicate with others?
Well, the answer is ‘you can’t’ if each person is in the separate mind and refuses to accept that each ‘definition’ of truth is actually an individualised ‘truth’, or rather it is the perspective that someone sees as true.
Two beings in the separate mind and a lower level of consciousness, especially below the 48th level, will not be able to communicate because each of them will only see their own interests and to communicate we need to see other interests beyond our own.
But two beings of one mind and a higher level of consciousness – the closer to 96 the better – can see that there are other interests and can respect other people’s right to their individual perspective.
And can even accept to learn something by seeing the other person’s perspective, as Master Paull the Venetian reminds us.:« I realize that he has a different perspective, and perhaps that can help me gain a different perspective on a particular issue so I can see a broader way to deal with it».[3]
And later, when the person is at the 96th level and above, communication becomes much easier – if both people are at a similar level of consciousness, because at that level they are in one mind, experiencing the Christ Mind, which reaches a higher and spiritual level of truth.
The Levels of Consciousness and the Filters of Perception in the 4 Material Bodies
In the articles on the 5th ray published on this site you can read a deeper understanding of this topic. I particularly recommend this.
But for a simple explanation related to the topic of this article, I will mention the following: people are not all focused in the same way on the 4 material bodies: some people are mainly focused on the physical body, others on the emotional body, others on the mental body and others in the identity body, each person’s sense of identity influences all perceptions of reality.
And when we perceive a certain stimulus, each person’s predisposition to focus on one of these levels causes a reference pattern to be created, which leads them to see the pattern that arrived in the emotional body (after starting on the physical level) and not to see the patterns that form on the mental and identity levels.[4]
And of course, since there is a difference of vibration in the several 4 material bodies, if one person is focused more in the mental than in the emotional body, his/her perception will be different from the person focused on the physical or emotional, but also from the person focused on the identity body. All this can become a challenge for communication.
Overcoming the Deeper Issue of Communication
Let’s see Master Paul the Venetian’s words: « What is it that so often blocks communication? You have an outer standard that makes you think that harmony in relationships is based on sameness».[5]
We don’t have to be at the highest level of consciousness possible on Earth to begin to see that there are positive aspects to the differences in perspective between individuals. Such differences, if we try to understand them, help us to grow.
At the same time, it helps us to see that every human being is a free being, developing according to their own individualized spiritual spark and personality. And this is only a threat to the perceptual filters of the ego, not to our spiritual individuality.
Furthermore, avoiding the expression of different opinions and perspectives – which, for the reasons mentioned above, are inevitable – does not improve any kind of communication, but only maintains an apparent “peace” that does not allow for real growth and becomes a challenge to communication.
Human beings communicate because we are not islands and we relate to others, whether socially, at work or at home. And the purpose of this communication is to grow together, to accept and challenge the unconscious fears that cause the ego to want to control others with whom we interact.
Instead of reacting to others when the ego in us feels threatened or challenged, it is important to develop a free communication in which the ego has no place and gives way to the individual expression of each one, capable of finding understanding and union in the mind of Christ, which is the only one that helps us to be creative.
Creativity combined with free communication is the only one that supports healthy spiritual growth, where control and the need for submission have no place, and helps to overcome the challenges of communication.
