The four Levels of the Challenge of Christ
The four Levels of the Challenge of ChristAfter describing the 2nd level of the Challenge of Christ, in this post I am going to give a general description of the four levels of the challenge of Christ. I follow Lord Maitreya’s teachings in his book Master Keys to Spiritual Freedom[1].
The First Level
This is the elementary level of Christ Consciousness, and corresponds to the experience of recognizing, in some person outside of us, The Christ. Like Lord Maitreya says: « it is the challenge to accept or reject Christ outside yourself. »
This challenge refers to the ability, present in every human being, to recognize the Christ. The Christ is present in us, as the «conscious you», that was created by God through the Logos, or Christ mind. Every person has this divine spark in the core of his or her being and this spark is the representant of the Christ Mind in our beings.
It is this Christ mind that allows us to jump out of the duality -self and recognize that we are more than that self. But, on Earth, where humankind chose the separate or linear mind a long time ago, the masters provide a special self – the Christ Self- assigned to everyone, until it is necessary for our growth.
At this 1st level of Christ, we must recognize the Christ in another being, because at this level, most aren’t able, yet, to recognize it in themselves.
What happens then, is that we notice that there are certain beings that manifest Christ Consciousness, we see those beings as being more developed than most people, as having a higher level of Consciousness than ourselves and most other human beings.
In the past, this happened with several beings that are today ascended masters, like Jesus, Gautama, etc. These beings demonstrated, when they were on earth, that there is an alternative to the Consciousness of the ego, of the dualistic linear mind of the ego and served as examples for all.
At the time that Jesus and Gautama lived, many people followed them because they saw that they were manifesting Divine Consciousness, and, simultaneously, they recognized also that they , themselves, were not at the same level.
When we are at this level, we see these beings as special, different from us and do not acknowledge that we also can attain the same level of development.
But at this level of Christ, the challenge consists in recognize that it is possible to be the Christ on earth.
The Second Level of the challenge of Christ
For its importance in the spiritual path, we published an entire post to this level. I just summarize here: at this level, the Christ challenges us to abandon our dual mind and beliefs associated to this mind.
Peter failed this initiation because, instead of opening himself to the mind of Christ, he wanted to keep his mortal self- the ego- he allowed the dual mind of his outer self to create an image of «what the Christ is» and preferred to stick to that image, instead of experience directly the Christ, in the one mind present in himself, the conscious you. He preferred to keep his concepts and ideas projected by the linear mind and accepted the definitions of that mind, about what the Christ should or should not be. With that, he could not recognize the Christ in himself.
The 3rd Level of the Challenge of Christ
After passing the 2nd challenge of Christ and recognize that the Christ is in us, and accepting that we are spiritual beings and not just mortal beings, it is time to accept that we can manifest the Christ, we can be the living Christ, like Master Jesus exemplified 2000 years ago.
This is the level where, in the words of Lord Maitreya: we face «the challenge to accept or reject the Christ inside ourselves».
Master Jesus wanted to demonstrate, when he was on Earth, that every man and woman can be the living Christ. Being the Christ is not something that only «special beings» can do, is something that every man and woman can do.
It takes some time, after we recognize the Christ inside of us, to begin gathering light in our energy field from our I Am Presence but, gradually, we can clearly notice that we are spiritual beings, not just by name but because our growth brings literally the light of our I Am Presence to us and stay with us.
We can sense this clearly and the gradual cleaning and opening of our Heart chakra and, after some time, we can sense the light going up, opening the superior chakras. At some point, we are literally «beings of light». But this comes with the responsibility to use that light accordingly to the law of the Creator.
So, we begin to feel that is our responsibility to use that light to the benefit of the whole because if we don’t, we will misuse that light. And that’s when we face the last level of the challenge of Christ:
The fourth Level of the Challenge of Christ
At this level, we understand that the spiritual path is not «about us», in the sense of individual beings, but about life as a whole.
At this level, we know that our growth from this point can’t be focused on us, as individuals, because at this level (theoretically associated with the levels above the 96th degree of Consciousness) we can’t grow if we focus only on us.
At this point, like Mother Mary said recently, we must give freely, as we also freely received and receive. So, we must help our brothers and sisters to awake to their identity as spiritual beings as well.
Of course, when we are doing this, there’s also the possibility that we can be rejected or worse, like happened with Master Jesus.
But it is not possible to keep the light we receive, just for ourselves, because we are not separate beings. When some being do this, he begins the selfish path , the left handed path.
At this level we know that life is one, and, when we benefit any part of life, we also benefit ourselves.
