The Link between Creativity and Freedom
In this post I am writing about the association of the 1st ray of Creativity and the 7th ray of Freedom. I am using Master Mores’s Teachings in the Book The Mystic Initiations of Power, to show the link between creativity and freedom.
Creative Decisions and Non-Creative Decisions
The human mind, the ego, is, as I wrote in another post, a reactive mind, it can’t be creative. And why? In Master More’s words: « I mean a creative decision where you are free to react in a way that you have not done before. You are free to react based on how you want to react, not letting a spirit take over your reactions. »[1]
A non- creative decision is a decision where we are acting through a self that takes control of our will and makes us react to a certain situation always in the same way, the same way in which the self was created, usually a long time ago, when we felt threatened and under attack by some situation on Earth, many lifetimes before now.
A non-creative decision is compulsive and mechanical, it acts through us, and we just suffer it, without being able to change it; it comes from a self, created by us long ago, although we are not aware of it anymore.
These selves that lead us to react to some situation on earth are like a computer application, with a predefined program, running whenever a situation like the one that gave rise to them in the past occurs.
All human beings have them, and they form a set of automatic reaction patterns, created by the interaction with the environments and the beings we have encountered over many lives.
Since planet Earth is a predatory environment, it is inevitable that these reaction patterns form and repeat many times.
The consequence of this is that Freedom is very limited for human beings, who are still under the control of many compulsions, due to their identification with the physical identity.
However, a considerable number of human beings have already risen above many of these compulsive patterns of behavior and decided to be more than this identity.
And these are the ones who are making it to jump out of the reactionary- self of the mortal identity and begin to connect to their spiritual identity because they are beginning to see the link between creativity and freedom.
And that’s only then, they can choose freely, only then can they see that they can choose not to react according to the external self, they know they can choose more freely how they want to respond or even decide not to respond, because they can decide to let the self that reacts with the mechanical repetitive pattern die.
Like Master More says, we choose freely when we choose how to react and recognize that we have more than one option, we can create new options for ourselves.
Creative Decisions Transcend the External Mortal Identity of the Ego
So we know that when we see mentally that we can choose not to react through the self that usually takes over and superimposes upon us its reactionary pattern, that’s when we are not anymore totally identified with the external self.
Because, when we identify totally with this temporary identity created on Earth, we don’t see any other possibilities, we think we are that reactionary self, we think we don’t have any other options but keep reacting the same way as usual.
But if we know, for the first time, that we really can choose not to do that, that’s when we begin to see our own nature as free spiritual beings. When we become aware of this, our inner spiritual identity reveals itself to us, so we can say to that external self: «I am not you and you are not me. I recognize your unreality, and I don’t want you anymore in my mind, in my stream of consciousness, I am letting you die. »
And we keep doing this and shed more and more selves like this, gradually, and every time this happens, our material bodies get clearer from this garbage we have been carrying with us from lifetime to lifetime, like a strait jacket that imprisons us and, so many times, overwhelm us.
For every self like this we let die, it is a part of our spiritual identity that is unveiled. Because what happened when we identified with the moral identity in the world of form was that, for each self, created on Earth, a bit of our spiritual identity became hidden and unable to express itself.
This is why this process of let these selves, created after the birth of the external self or ego die, is like removing the veil that covers our original identity. Letting the selves that hide our spiritual identity die, it’s like overcoming a state of blindness in which we have been immersed for so long and seeing again. It is a liberating process.
When we have done this a good number of times and get close to the 96th level of consciousness possible on Earth, that’s when we can become creative and, for that reason, are truly free. Bu not completely free, because we still have a lot of work to do on ourselves, until we reach the 144th level of consciousness, possible on Earth.
But we begin to manifest the Christ consciousness in a much larger scale, and that’s when we can really begin to face the external self, every time it appears to try to compel us to react the only way that self can react, and we are conscious of this.
We can then say to that self, every time it appears calling for our attention, and say to it: «I see you self, and you are not me and I am not you and I don’t want to follow you, I am a spiritual free being and you have no power over me, I am letting you die.»
We must also be aware that not all the reactionary selves have the same strength. There is one, the dominant- self on the conglomerate of selves that make up the Ego, that we can’t let die once and for all, because this self is the «last ghost» like the Masters call it, and we will only let it die right before the ascension.
But what we can do is to see this self, recognize it for what it is, and reduce its strength, by not letting it take control over our life. This can be very hard to accomplish, because this self will strongly resist its demise, using all tricks to keep us in the separate mind that created it in the first place.
And it can be overwhelming to experience its pressure on us, its effort to make us react, like the demons of Mara, that Master Gautama talked about, or the «devil’s temptations» described on the Bible to Master Jesus. It’s no easy task but, like always, we have the ones who faced this before us and were victorious upon this.
Master Gautama Budha, Jesus, and so many others, are just a few examples of this victory. And what one can do, all can do, it is the cosmic law.
When we , as spiritual beings, regain control over our life, that is the moment when «we take our cross», in a metaphor for what happened to Master Jesus, the Living Christ when He walked on Earth, we rise up bringing the cross with us, because we are no longer tied to it- the ego- that kept us imprisoned on the cross of the material bodies, and then are really free and creative.
At a certain point, the external- self will no longer have strength to compel us to react to anything because we are no longer a reactive -being, we are free creative being. We understand then that there is a link between creativity and freedom.
Master More says: “Freedom can be lost by not making decisions. But freedom cannot be won without making conscious, willful, deliberate decisions. »[2]
And now I return to our initial point on this post: only free beings can be creative and only a spiritual being can be creative because it is not moved by the circumstances outside of its being but acts in the drive of wanting to express itself, to be more than it was before.
As spiritual beings, we use the power and the will inside to make choices from the neutral point of view of our internal Peace, the Peace of our I am Presence, that is not moved by anything in the world of form.
We do what the Masters call to personalize our lives. And this means that we can, at a certain point, stop thinking about what happens on Earth, when someone attacks us in any way, that they are doing it personally to us.
They are not doing it personally for the simple reason that they are trapped in their reactionary patterns while we have already let go of the external personality that feels threatened or hurt by the circumstances of the matter realm and we can feel at peace.
It is this sense of Peace that can help us stop reacting from the Ego and see it as the illusion that it is and instead of the Ego, into the world from the spiritual point of view by recognizing the link between creativity and freedom, becoming aware that we can create our own reality.
