The Motivations to Follow the Spiritual Path
In this article I write about the motivations to follow the spiritual path.
What motivates us to follow the spiritual path? At the beginning, even when we are sincere «spiritual persons», it is natural that we have some expectations about what the Path can do for us, being it better circumstances to our lives, more health , more money, fame, getting read of some sort of negative energies thrown to us, you name it, the possibilities vary and can be in great number.
I had some of these expectations, myself, and was not familiar , when I found these teachings, with the one that, at a certain point, must be our only aim-: to get qualified for the ascension, the process that graduates us from life on earth as mere human beings and allows the start of a new level of life in the spiritual realm, as spiritual beings.
The Masters don’t judge us for having these expectations, we live in a challenging world and face, many times, a number of hardships that make us cry for divine help. But this kind of expectations, using the spiritual path to get some reward or compensation on earth, will not take us very far. Because it sees the spiritual growth as a bargain, with the attitude of «I give you this God, in exchange of you giving me that» that is so common in the history of religions.
God or the Masters don’t need anything from us, the idea that we can bargain with God for some reward is created by an image brought from the fallen beings and introduced in the collective consciousness and has nothing to do with reality.
Spiritual students must understand this, if they want to successfully grow spiritually. God’s and Masters’s Love are unconditional, and this means that we don’t need to do anything to be loved by them. What we need to do, is to look into ourselves, and be able to Love ourselves too, with the very same Unconditional Love.
Following the spiritual path is of our own interest, so we can have a better life, if we clean up all the psychologic hindrances that create suffering and the consciousness of lack. This is the first simple truth that we can learn by following the path.
When we begin to follow the path, we must be committed to our spiritual growth and be able to apply discipline, because we must separate ourselves from the weight of the collective consciousness. This is the part of the path where we develop an individual identity, able to resist the density of the collective low consciousness’s attraction.
Besides discipline, a quality of the 1st ray, we are also going to need purity and integrity of our intentions that allow the acceptance that we are in the spiritual path because we love our spiritual growth more than we love the things of the material world. We need to love more our Divine Being then we love our mortal being. This will be even more important in higher stages of the path.
This does not mean that we need or want to be «perfect» to deserve being in the Path. There is no such thing, «perfection “is an illusion created on earth, by the ones who want to keep us forever trapped as mortal beings. Letting go of this concept is necessary, and the sooner the better.
But this means that we will not grow if we don’t commit completely with our efforts to look into ourselves and resolve our psychology. Our spiritual growth is, in fact, a work of digging inside to resolve our psychology.
The Masters have given us the tools to do this: through the books dictated through the messenger Kim Michaels, (you can find them in affordable eBook format) with the instructions given by the Masters, and invocations to purify your energies and resolve some karma.
It is true that we can grow just by ourselves, without guidance. But it is infinitely a less long process if we are guided by the Masters.
In the next post I will tell you what the books I have used and in what order, and some insight experiences with the Masters when I have been studying.
