The True Path and the False Path to a Spiritual Life
In this post I am writing about the distinction between the true spiritual path and the false spiritual path on Earth.
For many centuries, the tradition on Earth has been to consider spirituality and moral improvement of the ‘internal self or ego as synonymous.
The spiritual path has been seen as a process where we perfect our identity in the sense of obeying established commandments, purifying the personality of some undesired qualities, seen as immoral or egotistic.
In other words, to be a «spiritual person» we need to obey the established rules that define this and not carrying out actions that are defined by the church or guru or so-called “spiritual” institution as being “evil”.
By this process, human beings would then be considered «spiritual», instead of beings akin to animals, moved by instinct and uncontrolled desires.
But the teachings of the Ascended Masters tell us otherwise: human identity cannot be perfected until it becomes «spiritual». Like Master Jesus said, «only the man who came from heaven can return to heaven. » So, we need to discern the true spiritual path and the false spiritual path
In this post I intend, by using Master’s More teachings [1], to clarify that we need to recognize that there is a true path and a false path to spiritual life.
Human Identity and spiritual Identity
I wrote previously about the incarnation process, where an extension of a spiritual being incarnates in the world of form, by creating a vehicle – the 4 material bodies– to interact with the matter realm.
The spiritual identity that incarnates is the Conscious You, the localized awareness of the spiritual being that remains in the spiritual realm- the I am Presence. And it is the conscious you that can «return no heaven», or the spiritual realm.
But, in order to fulfil the purpose of incarnation, the Conscious you assumes, from the 144th level of consciousness to the 48th level of consciousness, several illusions correspondent to each one of these levels.
These illusions make the conscious you believe that Earth is completely real and creates an identity as a mortal material being. This, however, is only a temporary identity, that allows the experience and learning to the spiritual life stream and was never intended to become absolute or permanent.
Nothing is permanent on Earth, in fact, and, in this stage of development, the incarnated being ideally goes through a phase of immersion in the world of form– where he/she identities completely with the physical body and see the matter realm as the only reality- and, after growing in awareness, begins the awakening phase.
The awakening phase is the process where the life stream awakens to its true identity – as a spiritual being- and begins the upward process of shedding the illusions, from the 48th level of consciousness to the 96th level, and attunes to the I am Presence as its only real identity.
But there is no continuity between the human mortal identity and the spiritual immortal identity, because the life stream grows by letting die the sense of identity in every level of consciousness until reaches the last one possible on Earth- 144th.
It is necessary to let die the mortal identity to unveil the spiritual identity in every level of consciousness one by one. Each time we step one level of consciousness, up, it is a self of the mortal identity that dies and, simultaneously one level of spiritual identity is unveiled and recognized by us.
We can only recover our spiritual identity by this process of letting die every self that makes up the conglomerate of the ego, until no other self remains but our spiritual self.
This process continues as long as human beings remain in the world of form, although, at the higher levels, close to the 144th level, there are few attachments to the human identity, only remain the ones that keep the life stream united to the physical body.
The True spiritual Path and the False Path
From what has been said, we can see that the traditional “spiritual path” is not the true spiritual path because it deals only with the mortal self, the human personality, and the illusion that we can perfect it and make it «immortal». This is an illusion, although very strong in the collective consciousness. That’s why we need to discern the true spiritual path and the false spiritual path.
The False Path
In His book, Master More characterize this false path, defined by a set of rules, or patterns, guiding people through fear. The energy we see on this path is only the energy of fear, defined by the dualistic model that sets the «right way» and the «wrong way» of living, the «good action» and the «evil action».
When the parameters of life are set on external rules and not in the self- transformation at internal levels, the result is a structure built in external schemes od reward versus punishment: good actions give reward; bed actions give punishment. People act either to achieve a reward or to avoid punishment.
if we look at the commandments of traditional religions, we also notice that this paradigm insists in the fact that when we make ‘mistakes’ these have terrible consequences that leave a stain in the soul. And this generates fear and the tendency to obey the rules, to avoid the consequences of bad actions.
So, what moves people in observing the set of rules is fear, a desire to escape punishment and, in some cases, the desire to be rewarded. We can obey without even believe in what we are doing but just for an external cause to the actions themselves.
The Institutions, however, tell us that, if we obey, we will be saved. Without any other effort from our part, in a real self-transformation of our sense of identity.
It is not difficult to understand that, if we obey to those rules because we are told that just by obeying, it guarantees our salvation, this does nothing to transform ourselves
Furthermore, fear also stops our true creativity. In the mindset of fear we just use our dualistic linear mind to evaluate the «morality» of our doings and other’s doings and the spiritual path becomes a bargain, where we act or don’t act in some way, because we want to receive a reward, or want to avoid a punishment, we don’t see the spiritual path as an end in itself.
The True Path
The true path doesn’t set external rules about the «correct» or «incorrect» way of doing something or acting, it is based in the creativity of our spiritual identity. Creativity is a quality of the 1st ray.
The spiritual self knows that Earth is a «School room» and there is no action, no decision made on Earth that can’t be undone, no decision that can’t be changed by a better decision.
Creativity, like Master More says, is not to obey to a set of rules, it is rather seeing the effects of our previous choices and decide if we want to continue doing what we were doing or if we want something else, that is better than the previous result.
Our spiritual identity is «spirit» and spirit never confine itself in a form. Spirit creates form but also transcends form when transcends itself. It does not become imprisoned by form, unless it identifies with it. But, at any moment, can recover its awareness as a spiritual being to become more.
It is the spiritual creativity that creates abundance in the world of form: « Abundance comes through creativity so that you learn to make better use of the natural resources and the laws of Nature». [2]
When we subject ourselves to obeying pre-existing rules, we stop using freedom to create something new, to transcend ourselves and our sense of identity, because creativity helps us to be more than we were before.
But we can only do that if we gradually let die the outer sense of identity to recreate a new sense of being through the creative drive. For that we need to use our will- the will of the spiritual internal identity- and the power coming from it because this is what fuels the movement to become more.
Our identity does not have a fixed nature, it can’t be defined once and for all, because transcendence is the very law of spiritual growth. There is no end to this process, no matter how strange this can be for the linear mind of the external self to figure out.
That’s why the «true path» is the one that keeps us moving with the «River of Life», the metaphor our Masters created to let us see that life is a continuous flow where concepts like «perfection”,” absolute truth» are senseless. Life is an eternal creative process of growing in consciousness.
To achieve it, we need to discern the true spiritual path and the false spiritual path.
