Truth and Levels of Consciousness
In this article I will write about the connection between Truth – a quality of the 5th Ray – and the planes of consciousness, explaining the association between truth and the levels of consciousness. I am following the teachings of Master Paul the Venetian in his book.[1]
We don’t Grasp Truth, Until the 96th Level of Consciousness
Master Paul says ins his book:« You cannot know the fullness of truth that you can know when you get close to the 144th».[2]
This statement is one of the reasons why there is no absolute truth on earth, although it is not the only reason, because on the one hand, truth is not a static or fixed state, because all life is constantly transcending itself, therefore it is always changing.
On the other hand, what we can grasp depends on our levels of consciousness. At any given time, we are at one of the 144 levels of consciousness possible on Earth. And before we are at the 144th level, what we can grasp is not the fullness of truth possible on earth.
So, in everything we recognise as “truth” there is always a part that comes from the illusions we have accepted in our mind.
From the 48th to the 96th level we can free ourselves from many illusions, most of them connected with the collective consciousness. But make no mistake, we are far from freeing ourselves from all of them.
Let’s look at another statement made by Master Paul the Venetian: «You can see truth only through the soul vehicle that you are using as an expression in the material world».[3]
If we can think about it, there are several layers of illusions stored in our 3 material bodies: identity, mental and emotional. And these illusions influence the way we see the world, how we perceive the world, even in the physical sense.
How the Identity, Mental and Emotional levels of our Mind Limit Our Perception of Truth
Our sense of identity, stored in the identity body, was created on earth, as I explained in another post, in the incarnation process, where we accepted an illusion for the level of consciousness, from the 144th to the 48th level.
These illusions are not lies, in the sense that they would be falsehoods, they are veils that hide our spiritual identity so that we can incarnate in a physical body and have a realistic experience in the world of form.
Without these illusions we would not accept that the material world is real and would not get the maximum benefit from being in this world. We would not be able to maintain our connection to the physical body.
These illusions are those that allow us to create a temporary sense of identity as mortal beings and the environment of the earth as a total reality.
But since humanity fell, long ago, and accepted the mortal identity as its unique identity, the mortal self has gained control over the spiritual self – because we chose to give it that control, of course, but we have forgotten that.
The result is that many now believe that they are just mortal beings and have added other layers of illusion that have contaminated everything they think is possible, a general view of the world and even the way our senses ‘see’ the world outside.
The other material bodies- mental and emotional- followed the trends created by the identity body, so we can accept without dispute that the way we see the world is far from being «the truth». As Master Paul points out, one thing is reality, and another is our perception of reality. Truth is always related to our level of consciousness.
Truth and Levels of Consciousness
The 3 material bodies make up what we call the ‘soul’. Our soul is not a static reality either, it changes according to the level of consciousness we are at. We could even say that the path of self-mastery is about changing the contents of our material bodies or our soul.
When we are below the 48th level of consciousness, the content of our soul vehicle is very self-centred and selfish because it is totally dominated by the fallen consciousness. But this happens because the ego and the outer self are totally out of fear and very reactive.
They can only look for what is in the interest of the lower self or ego because they have no other reference than the separate mind and all the lower energies associated with the fallen beings and their fear-based beasts.
That’s why they can’t grasp the truth. But when the beings with this sense of identity accept to change and grow above the 48th level of consciousness, gradually they become less self-centered and slowly begin to separate from the heavy collective consciousness. [4]
Therefore, the ability to grasp what is true is greater as the level of consciousness increases. The higher the level of consciousness, the higher our perception of reality and truth.
But those who think that when we are close to level 144, we will be able to perceive the absolute truth will be disappointed. The concept of ‘absolute truth’ is an illusion that makes no sense when we consider the very definition of life given by the Masters: life is continuous self-transcendence.
In fact, a good way to recognise this illusion is to realise that the spiritual self never reacts to the circumstances of the world. If there is anything in us that does, we can be sure that it is the outer self, the ego.
It is the ego that has the uncontrollable need to dominate, predict, judge, characterise and be in control of everything that happens in our lives.
It is true that we created it for that very reason, because at a certain point we didn’t want to make decisions and solve the challenges that the material world presented. And now we have to see that all this desire for control is also an illusion, because the ego does not control anything, it only creates images through which it feels that it controls something.
At a certain point, after the 96th level of consciousness, we will begin to let it die and the illusions it carries with it. In the words of Master Paul: “The main task on the path of self-mastery is to rise above the influence of the ego so that you have mastery over the soul vehicle instead of the ego being the master.(…)»[5]
And we will learn that a good part of «finding truth» is a process of dismissing our illusions by seeing something truer that we couldn’t see before, but we never attain an absolute truth.
The purpose of the self-mastery process is to purify our 4 material bodies, especially the 3 higher ones that we take with us from one incarnation to the next, and to purify these bodies is to let go of the many reactive selves that we have created in our long journey through many lives.
When these bodies are purified beyond the 96th level, we can more easily connect to our I Am Presence and access the Christ Mind, and with this we have a purer perception of reality.
But even then, what we can perceive is not absolute truth, because truth changes with the dynamics of life. As the Masters, sometimes say, “Truth is what helps us to grow from one plane to the next”. So, truth also transcends itself to follow the movement of life.
Truth always relates to our level of consciousness.
