Why Sometimes Prayers Don’t Work
In this article I continue to write about our spiritual growth and why prayers to God and the Masters sometimes don’t work. I am writing in continuity with my previous article.
We Must Take Full Responsibility for Our Lives
I said, in a recent post, that we are not alone on earth, we can always have the help of our Christ -self, our Masters, God:« It is a law of God that when you ask, you will receive an answer».[1]
So why is it that so many people feel that their prayers are not being answered? Well, we need to look at this briefly. Let’s start by quoting Mother Mary:« God has worked by creating you with a unique individuality, by giving you free will and by creating an entire universe in which you can exercise your free will. It is your responsibility to build upon that foundation by making choices concerning what you will co-create».[2]
So what happens is that we were created to be co-creators with God, we were created to be free beings, to make choices to co-create in the world of form in which we live, and to learn from that process, to grow in awareness, because it is our Creator’s desire that we can grow until we reach the Creator’s level of awareness.
But for reasons explained earlier, we don’t want to make decisions because we are afraid of making mistakes and being ‘proved wrong’. This is why, in the distant past, we decided to create an outer self, and have since allowed it to take full control of our lives.
However, it is time to let the mortal self die and reconnect with our true identity – the Conscious You, which is the localised awareness of our I am presence, and take full responsibility for our lives.
Most people on earth, when they pray to God or Jesus or any Master they feel connected to, they expect these beings to solve all their problems for them. So what they ask God and the Masters is, ‘Dear Master, dear Divine Mother, dear God, please solve this for me, even though I don’t want to take responsibility for my life’.
We don’t get an answer, because what we are asking is for God or the Divine Mother or other Masters to make decisions for us. And that can’t happen! Why not? Because the self that is asking the Masters to solve its problems is the self that is in duality and does not want to make decisions.
Well, the Masters and God don’t answer to selves that are ultimately unreal, like this one that doesn’t want to make decisions because it’s afraid of making mistakes. There are no ‘mistakes’ in the eyes of God.
There are no absolute truths on earth, it is a schoolroom to experiment with freedom and learn from our choices. So how can God, Divine Mother or the Masters answer an unreal self that it is not you? That self is an illusion and the Masters and God don’t want you to stay in that state of consciousness.
That’s why many people who don’t want to let go of the self that doesn’t want to make decisions look for an outer teacher and don’t listen to their true teachers – the Christ Self and the true Masters of humanity, because the outer teacher tells them ‘what to do’.
This will relieve the self that is afraid to make decisions, but it will not help your spiritual growth, which is the only real growth. As I wrote in another post (Habits), for a long time humanity has created a track in the 3 material bodies to run away from making decisions.
A habit is a reactive response that, once created, works automatically and is triggered by the same type of situation – in this case whenever we have to make a decision and feel uncomfortable about it.
The true Masters of humanity will never reinforce the habits that keep most people on Earth trapped in duality consciousness. The Masters don’t need anything from us, they don’t need any offers from us, they are always unconditionally available to us – but we must take full responsibility for ourselves. [3]
The Masters, God, Divine Mother, hear our prayers, but we have to ask with our spiritual identity and not with the outer self, which is nothing but an illusory identity. In the illusory identity prayers don’t work.
We live on Earth, a planet where dualistic consciousness has reached the majority of the inhabitants, but it is not because we are ‘imperfect’ (a concept that makes no sense to God and the Masters) that we are ‘not heard’.
It is even less because we are sinners, etc., as we have been taught to think by the religions and forces of this world that do not want humanity to free itself from the isolating beliefs that keep it trapped.
The Masters and God do not respond to requests made by selves that are not truly real, they are not false gurus, their mission is to help us give up identification with the illusory sense of identity and to help us see beyond it, until we realize that we are spiritual beings created to take control of the material world and not to be dominated by it. Until we do, prayers won’t work.
We need to take responsibility for our lives and stop running away.
As long as we are identified with the mortal identity and do not recognise that we are spiritual beings, we cannot be taught or helped by the Masters. Masters can only help those who begin to take full responsibility for their lives as the free beings that they are and the co-creators that they are.
The starting point for being helped and listened to by Masters is to take responsibility for oneself, to accept that making decisions is part of the life of free beings and not to run away from this responsibility, to take on a new sense of identity as a spiritual being.
That’s when we become accessible to the Masters and they can answer us and help us. This does not mean that we have reached a certain point of ‘perfection’, it just means that we have dropped a certain number of illusions and that we are open to grow as spiritual beings and not just physical products of an earthly evolutionary process.
Without the recognition of our spiritual identity we can’t get any help because we will reject it, we are not able to accept anything the Masters could give us. We have an example that can be used for this truth: Master Jesus, who came to earth to demonstrate the Christ Consciousness that any other human being could attain, was brutally killed.
When the disciple is ready, the Master appears, that is the law. But we must emphasise the word “ready”.
Let’s listen to Mother Mary: « The problem is that so many people ask for help, but they do not truly want help to help themselves. They do not want the guidance that will help them make the right decisions, they want some kind of magical solution so they do not have to make decisions».[4]
If we ask for help through the consciousness of the Conscious You that takes its full responsibility as co-creator with God on this planet, we will get help and receive the answers we need, as many spiritual students can demonstrate and have demonstrated since ancient times.
But if we wish to remain in the consciousness of duality, we are free to do so, but we shouldn’t be surprised if our prayers don’t work in some difficult times.
